Vision
Racing Announces Big Changes
In Time For Hometown Kansas Event
“Legendary Country
Singer Roy Clark
Joins ARCA RE/MAX Series Team”
TULSA,
Oklahoma (Tuesday, June 27, 2006) - - A new driver, a new partner,
a new sponsor and a new look. Nope it’s not the start of a brand
new race team, it’s the additions to Vision Racing that makes
them a local favorite for the running of the ARCA RE/MAX Series, Kansas
Lottery $200 Grand this Saturday from Kansas Speedway.
Adrian Berryhill, Vision’s
Racing’s team owner has tapped upcoming talent, Will “The
Thrill” Vaught to pilot his No. 37 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for
the remainder of the 2006 season. Vaught, a native of Springfield
Missouri will attempt to make his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut at the
1.5-mile Speedway. Vaught, 19 has mastered the local tracks surrounding
the Missouri region proving to be one of the upcoming stars in Motorsports.
Last season, Vaught competed in 34 events taking the trophy home ten
times with 27 top-ten finishes. Vaught also took the championship
crown at Lebanon I-44 Speedway. Now, Vaught will take the next major
steppingstone into one of his goals of becoming a NASCAR Nextel Cup
Series driver by competing in a stock car.
“Everyone at Vision
Racing is very excited to announce Will as our new full time driver,”
said Berryhill, a successful entrepreneur from Oklahoma. “We
are committed into building Vision Racing into one of the finest programs
in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. We’ve had some up and downs this
year, however, we’re back this weekend and I think everyone
will be impressed the changes we made.”
“Wow, this is truly
an opportunity of a lifetime,” said the ARCA rookie Vaught.
“I appreciate the opportunity that Adrian Berryhill is giving
me and I know that I have what it takes to get the job done. Vision
Racing has great equipment, sponsors and personnel. I really feel
like I’ve found my home in Motorsports.”
Last week, Vision Racing
participated in the open-test session at Kansas Speedway with satisfying
results. “Will was able to get comfortable in the car and up
to speed real fast, I was very impressed,” explained Berryhill,
who’s team holds a career best fifth place finish in ARCA occurring
at Daytona earlier this year. “We have a stout racecar and a
strong motor package for our hometown race. We’ll have a lot
of guests and a lot of people watching us and we plan to make them
proud.”
In addition to announcing
Vaught as the team’s driver, Berryhill also announced that Country
Music sensation Roy Clark has joined the team as a partner sparking
the team’s new emblem as Vision Racing with Roy Clark. Clark
is one of the most versatile and well-known country music musicians
and performers. He is best known for hosting one of the first nationally
televised country variety shows in the United States, Hee Haw from
1969 - 1992.
In addition to hosting
Hee Haw, Clark in the ‘70s, frequently guest hosted for Johnny
Carson on The Tonight Show and enjoyed a 30,000,000 viewership for
Hee Haw. While he has had hit songs like "Yesterday, When I was
Young" and "Thank God and Greyhound” his instrumental
skill has had an enormous impact on succeeding generations of both
bluegrass and country musicians.
Along with his musical
virtuosity, Clark has often displayed his talents as a comedian and
actor. During his years on the variety show Hee Haw, Clark entertained
the audience in numerous comedy sketches. Clark also released several
albums of his comedic performances, to varying critical acclaim and
commercial success.
In 2004, Clark recovered
30 album masters from his Dot/ABC years, 1968 to 1981, and several
of his classic hits have been repackaged. Varese Saraband has released
three compilations: Roy Clark Bluegrass — It’s About Time,
It’s About Me, Roy Clark Greatest Hits, and Country Comes To
Carnegie Hall, a compilation of tunes by Clark, Hank Thompson, Freddy
Fender and Don Williams. In addition, Time Life Inc. released the
Hee Haw original series on DVD and VHS in 2004 to retail outlets such
as Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Borders, Tower and more.
On August 22, 2006 Clark
will be a member of Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry for 19 years.
“It’s a real
honor to have someone of Roy Clark’s caliber on board with this
race team,” stated Berryhill. “He brings new and exciting
enthusiasm to the race team and we’re all very excited to have
him aboard. He is thrilled to have Will as the driver and we’re
all hoping for a strong outing in our first race together.”
Vaught responded, “How
cool is this? Roy Clark and Vision Racing. I’m looking forward
to seeing Roy at the track enjoying himself. This is a new endeavor
for him and it’s big. I know he’ll be one of the biggest
cheerleaders for this team on race day and it’s a privilege
to be associated with him.”
"Being a race fan,
having been a racecar driver in the past, I'm very excited to be involved
at the beginning of a great journey. Vision Racing and Will Vaught
both have a great attitude and they are a fun team to be around. If
it ain't fun don't do it and we're havin' fun,” commented Roy
Clark.”
Additionally,
Vision Racing announced that Primeaux Kia joins the team as the primary
sponsor of the No. 37 Chevrolet for the ninth event on the 2006 ARCA
RE/MAX Series calendar.
“Primeaux Kia is
one of the finest dealerships in the Tulsa area and we’re thrilled
to have them as our primary sponsor this week,” continued Berryhill.
“We’re looking forward to unloading strong off the hauler
and putting our car upfront. The Vision Racing crew is very excited
and can’t wait to get to the track, we all have a good feeling.”
In addition to Primeaux
Kia, Wiley Law Office, Red Rocket Fireworks and Branson Craft Mall
will all serve as associate sponsors on the No. 37 Chevrolet Monte
Carlo for the double-header event with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck
