TULSA
OK (1-2-06) - Vision Racing, which competed in seven ARCA RE/MAX Series
races in 2005, has filed an entry for the upcoming 20th running of the
Chili Bowl indoor midget nationals
with RE/MAX Series veteran driver Damon Lusk at the helm.
Lusk,
in 33 career RE/MAX Series starts, made two dirt track attempts at Springfield
and DuQuoin recording a career-best dirt-track finish of 11th at Springfield
in 2000 driving for veteran James Hylton, where he also won the Pork
Pole award (below right). Outside of a 27th place finish at DuQuoin
in 2004, Lusk has no other dirt-track experience.
“I really
don’t have much dirt-track experience, and certainly none in an
open-wheel
car,” said Lusk. “But heck yah; might as well give it a
shot. I just appreciate the opportunity to race with all the legends
that I know will be there. It'll be neat just to say we were there and
we gave it our best.”
Other entries from
the ARCA RE/MAX Series ranks include Justin Allgaier, Brandon Knupp
and the Fike bothers’ AJ and Aaron.
Vision Racing team
owner Adrian Berryhill, whose family business is "The Original
Chili Bowl", was the title sponsor for the race in its inaugural
running, hence the name "Chili Bowl" in each race thereafter.
Vision Racing will
be teaming up with national midget champion Donnie Lehman and World
of Outlaws "mean 15" sprint car driver Justin Henderson for
this year’s running. Lusk will be piloting a Gaerte-powered Maxim
chassis on Hoosier tires.
Lusk was not familiar
with the event’s prestige until he looked at the 2006 entry list,
which already includes heavy hitters such as Tony Stewart, Steve Kinser,
Kasey Kahne, JJ Yeley, Jason Leffler, Danny Lasoski, Sammy Swindell,
Tracy Hines and many others.
Lusk won two RE/MAX
Series races in 2002 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Pocono Raceway. In
all, Lusk has 15 top-10 finishes in 33 RE/MAX Series starts and has
led 208 laps in 10 races.
Vision Racing has
brought a few of its ARCA RE/MAX Series team sponsors to support this
year’s Chili Bowl effort such as NationalCashLenders.com, Excell
Sports Therapy and Builders Plus.
