TULSA OK (12-23-04) Tulsa, Oklahoma based Vision
Racing, LLC (“Vision”)
has signed driver Zach Chappell (left), of Talala, Oklahoma to drive
Vision’s ARCA RE/MAX Series stock cars in 2005. Chappell, a former
American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) national points champion will make
the transition from dirt to pavement for the 2005 season. The Vision
race team hopes to take advantage of young Chappell’s extensive
experience and translate his sprint car prowess into pavement success.
Vision
was formed by former racer and Tulsa entrepreneur Adrian Berryhill
along with former sprint car team owner and Tulsa attorney, Tracy
Poole.
“We're excited to have a young and aggressive, yet experienced
driver on board as we make plans to enter the ARCA RE/MAX Series” said
Berryhill.
“Zach Chappell has an awesome work ethic and raced over 120
shows per year during the last few years. We hope to channel his work
habits and enthusiasm for racing into a team that runs up front on
a consistent basis in our first year in the series,” said Poole.
The
team will also be announcing a new website in the coming weeks intended
to showcase Zach Chappell and the team’s sponsors and
to provide race fans with access to the team. The team’s 2005
race schedule will be featured on the website.
Chappell, 22 years young,
recently completed Andy Hillenburg’s
Fast Track Driving School at the Homestead Speedway in Miami, Florida
and then headed straight for Daytona International Speedway, where
he completed his ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie test with flying colors.
“We have to thank Andy Hillenburg and his entire staff for providing
first rate driving instructions and providing an excellent car for
the rookie test at Daytona. Without their experience and willingness
to help us we would have been pretty far behind on an incredibly steep
learning curve,” added Poole.
The new team will make its debut
at Nashville Superspeedway on March 26 in the PFG Lester 150. Co-Owner
Berryhill says the team is anxious
to get to the race track and “let our determination and performance
do the talking.” The team plans to focus on intermediate and
superspeedway events in its first season and place Chappell in contention
for the coveted Rookie-of-the Year title.
Sponsorship announcements
for the team will be made during January. “Hopefully
we’ll be making several new sponsor announcements in January
but we do have one very important one already in the bag,” said
Poole. “The ARCA RE/MAX Series has a great television package
with races broadcast live on SPEED Channel, so this will certainly
be a huge benefit for our sponsors,” said Poole.
The team will
be utilizing Chevrolet Monte Carlo cars on Hopkins chassis originally
prepared by Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI). Horsepower will
be provided by Tri-Star Motorsports engines prepared by Mark Smith.
